Airea D. Matthews is the author of Simulacra, winner of the 2016 Yale Series of Younger Poets.  She was awarded a 2016 Rona Jaffe Writer’s Foundation Award, the 2016 Louis Untermeyer Scholarship in Poetry from Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, a 2015 Kresge Literary Arts award, as well as fellowships from Cave Canem, Callaloo and The James Merrill House. Matthews’s current projects include a multi-disciplinary second book, which seeks to visually deconstruct the accepted narratives about America and class. She is an assistant professor of creative writing at Bryn Mawr College. She is  contributing editor of On The Seawall.

Chris Abani is a novelist, poet, essayist, screenwriter and playwright. A recipient of the PEN USA Freedom-to-Write Award, the Prince Claus Award, a Lannan Literary Fellowship, a California Book Award, a Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, a PEN Beyond the Margins Award, the PEN Hemingway Book Prize and a Guggenheim Award, he is Board of Trustees Professor of English at Northwestern University.
